Tour Description

A remarkable 9-day journey will take you to one of Africa's most remote and pristine wildernesses: Mahale Mountains National Park. This exclusive itinerary is crafted for those seeking an intimate and unforgettable connection with nature's most captivating primates, the wild chimpanzees.
Your adventure begins in the vibrant city of Dar es Salaam before a scenic flight takes you to the historic port town of Kigoma. From there, you'll experience a breathtaking boat transfer across the vast, crystal-clear waters of Lake Tanganyika, a journey that sets the tone for the secluded paradise that awaits.

The heart of this tour lies in the lush, tropical forests of Mahale. You will spend three full days on exhilarating chimpanzee treks, following the paths of habituated chimpanzee communities with expert guides. Beyond the standard trek, this itinerary features a special chimpanzee habituation experience, allowing you to spend an extended period observing their complex social behaviors and daily routines, a truly rare and privileged encounter.

With time to relax and reflect, you'll also enjoy the serene beauty of Lake Tanganyika—swimming, kayaking, or simply unwinding on the golden sands. This journey is more than a tour; it's a profound expedition into the natural world, culminating in a life-changing experience with our closest relatives in a landscape of unparalleled beauty.

A Note on Trekking: Please be aware that the chimpanzee trekking in Mahale National Park takes place in mountainous and sometimes steep terrain. A moderate level of physical fitness is required. For your comfort and to ensure you can fully enjoy this experience, we strongly advise non-athletes to engage in some regular hiking or similar physical activity in their hometown for at least a month before the safari.
